Biography

Gerardo Núñez is an outstanding saxophonist, born on February 11, 1992, in Linares, Nuevo León, Mexico. He began his musical studies at the age of five with private teachers, later completing them at the UANL Faculty of Music as well as at the School of Music and Dance of Monterrey. His professionalism and talent have led him to perform with many renowned artists such as Laureano Brizuela, Eugenia León, and Alejandro Marcovich, to name a few. He has also participated in recording productions with artists including Flor de Toloache, Pepe Aguilar, Victor García, Chiquis Rivera (with whom he won a Latin Grammy in 2024 and received a nomination for the American Grammys), Jumbo, Kevin Aguilar, among others. All of this has been achieved as part of the famous band from Monterrey he currently plays with: EL PLAN, a group primarily known for being made up of virtuoso musicians, session players, and producers focused on Tex-Mex and regional Mexican music, and twice winners of the Latin Grammy (2021 and 2024). With them, Gerardo has five Latin Grammy nominations, bringing his total career nominations to six, with three wins. Currently, Gerardo Núñez remains a member of the band El Plan and works alongside great producers such as Jair Alcalá (Indepe Music), Abelardo Rivera (Monterrey Sound), and the great Victoria Kuhne, owner of the largest and most important recording studio in Latin America: Victoria Records. Gerardo Núñez brings his talent to many musical genres, from his roots in regional Mexican, bolero, norteño, and Tejano, to pop, jazz, rock, and others, making him a 100% versatile musician. Today, Gerardo is supported and sponsored by the prestigious saxophone brand Mansdone, ensuring his continued success on the path to success.
