Introduction of Alto Saxophone
01-03 2022
The Alto Saxophone is the most common type of saxophone and is the most frequently used saxophone in classical music ensembles. Due to its moderate key spacing, the difficulty of breath control and embouchure falls between the soprano and tenor saxophones. Additionally, its relatively affordable price and ease of transport make it the most popular choice for beginners.
The tone of the alto saxophone is brighter than that of the tenor saxophone and softer than that of the soprano saxophone. It is the primary instrument in the saxophone section of concert bands and holds an equally important position alongside the tenor saxophone in jazz big bands. While the alto saxophone is primarily used as an ensemble instrument, it is less commonly featured as a solo instrument. Among the saxophone family, the alto saxophone is the most representative, with gold and bronze finishes being particularly popular among saxophone enthusiasts.
