How to Deal with Moldy Saxophone Reeds:

  1. Find a soft cotton cloth.
  2. Use some alcohol or high-proof liquor from your home and spray it onto the reed. After spraying the alcohol, wipe along the grain of the reed. Avoid rubbing back and forth, as this can easily damage the reed.
  3. The reed will be as clean as new after cleaning.

How to Deal with Dry and Wavy Saxophone Reeds:

  1. Moisten the reed.
  2. Take the mouthpiece or any flat surface and press the reed against the flat area of the mouthpiece for 30 seconds. This will smooth out the wavy texture.

How to Store Reeds After Use:

  1. You can place the reed in a reed holder.
  2. Alternatively, take a medium-thickness book, clean the reed after use, and place it in the middle of the book. The book will help keep the reed dry and flat. Image
